PI Berlin is looking for a leader of our solar PV Systems team. The job requires both a mix of team management and technical expertise on PV plants for our customers. You will be part of an international team spanning across the globe from China to the USA to our home base in Germany. Your daily work will be a key driver in the renewable energy transition. As part of PI Berlin, you will be making sure that solar PV plants and equipment are delivering reliable clean energy.

You will lead a team whose task is to carry out engineering and technical services in the area of solar PV plants. The focus of the team’s tasks is on technical analysis of PV plants in the development, construction or operational phase. Typical tasks include: optimization of layouts, energy yield assessments, documentation review, technical due diligence, PV plant inspections, and module tests on-site.
Personnel management for approximately 6 employees
Manage the priority and scheduling of tasks for your team and external partners
Distribute, execute and manage work packages
Perform project tasks as required, which may include analysis, simulations, and on-site inspections
Verify and release the analysis and reporting carried out by your team
Ensure that the team has the right software and equipment to perform inspections and tests of PV equipment on-site, as well as maintaining the equipment as required
Development and implementation of new analysis and reporting methods
Maintain a high standard and current technical knowledge in your team by tracking industry publications and conferences
Support project and sales managers as required in communication with customers regarding project scope, details, and deliverables.
Ensure the team and external partners have the required health and safety training and documentation
Engineering degree in mechanical, electrical or environmental/renewable energy
Minimum five years of experience in executing solar PV plant engineering tasks
Experience leading teams of engineers and technicians
Ability to manage complex and diverse technical tasks
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Willingness to travel and work internationally
Excellent technical writing skills
Ability to work independently as well as part of team
Experience managing sub-contractors
Fluency in German and English both spoken and written; additional languages are beneficial
