New presence of PI Berlin in Italy in response to PV boom
PV expert Giuseppe Farinato appointed Business Development Manager Italy
With solar expert Giuseppe Farinato, PI Berlin now has a foothold in Italy. The renowned technical consultancy took the decision in response to expectations of a second PV boom in the country. In his role as Business Development Manager, Giuseppe Farinato will be the point of contact for anyone interested in PI Berlin’s PV power plant planning, construction and quality assurance services. Mr. Farinato’s previous roles include that of Operation & Maintenance Manager for one of Italy’s largest PV project developers.
PV market in Italy expected to experience another boom
“The Italian photovoltaics market will experience another boom over the next few years. A growing number of investors from Europe as a whole and Italy in particular are interested in buying or building PV power plants,” explains Steven Xuereb, PI Berlin’s Director of Sales and Project Delivery. “Giuseppe Farinato is our experienced expert on the ground. He is extremely familiar with the market and knows the potential pitfalls. We were truly impressed with his expertise and experience in the operation of PV power plants.”
Building and operating PV power plants
Mr. Farinato advises investors and operators of PV power plants on how to minimize risks and optimize yields using PI Berlin’s service portfolio. The engineer previously worked as Operation & Maintenance Manager for the PV project developer Voltalia Italy, where he was responsible for risk management, maintenance and output monitoring of PV power plants with a combined output of several dozen megawatts. Before that, he held positions in maintenance, retrofitting and risk management of wind farms for Alstom Wind Italia and other companies.
Farinato will be supporting PI Berlin’s clients and partners with technical knowledge and risk management expertise. In his previous role as Operation & Maintenance Manager, he also gained experience in analyzing contractual risks and negotiating contracts. He was responsible for claiming warranty from the manufacturer whenever problems with PV power plant components arose.
Quality assurance for PV deployment in Italy
“I am expecting the installed PV capacity across Italy to at least double over the next three years. To manage that, we need expertise to repair any issues with the plants as quickly and reliably as possible,” says Farinato. “I first started working with PI Berlin three years ago on a project involving the inspection of two PV power plants in Italy. I was impressed with the team’s highly professional approach. PI Berlin will be able to make an important contribution to the quick and reliable deployment of photovoltaics in Italy. I am delighted to be able to help meet this challenge as part of the PI Berlin team.
